Cookie Policy
Cookies, local storage and optional analytics choices across Jayant Goyal’s sites.
What browser storage does
Cookies are small values sent with requests to a site. Local storage and session storage keep values in your browser. These services use storage for authentication, security, privacy choices and features you request, as well as optional Google Analytics when accepted. A cookie preference is a browser/device choice, not an account-wide setting.
Essential and requested-feature storage
Authentication uses the jg-session-v1 cookie family in supported local environments and the __Secure-jg-session-v1 family on production HTTPS sites. Values can be split into numbered chunks. Authentication and recovery-related storage is managed by the authentication service and may be refreshed or removed as sessions change. Do not share these values.
The jg_privacy_v1 cookie stores only the consent-format version, whether optional analytics is permitted, and the time of that choice. It lasts up to 180 days. Production sites under jayantgoyal.com share it so a choice follows you between those sites. Localhost and preview deployments use their own host-only preference.
Sidebar state and width, Studio’s versioned terms-acceptance cache, selected themes, and browser-local tool or game settings support features you request. Their lifetimes differ: some are session-only; local storage generally remains until you clear it or the feature replaces it. The browser’s storage tools show the actual keys and current expiry dates. Blocking necessary storage may break sign-in or the corresponding feature.
Optional Google Analytics
Portfolio and Studio can load Google Analytics only after the current browser choice permits it. Its _ga and ga* cookies distinguish usage and sessions; other Google Analytics cookie names can include _gid or _gat variants. The application configures its Google Analytics cookies for up to 180 days, although Google can refresh or expire individual values according to the service’s behaviour.
Rejecting or withdrawing the choice disables the application’s Google Analytics collection and removes accessible Google Analytics cookies at the current host and production parent domain. Requests already sent and information already held by a provider cannot be recalled by deleting a cookie. Necessary hosting, security and aggregate network operations are separate from this optional browser-analytics setting.
This preference does not enable advertising or ad personalisation. External websites you choose to open operate their own cookie settings.
Reviewing and changing your choice
Use Cookie preferences in the footer, or Legal & privacy on narrow layouts, to reopen the controls. A highlighted check means optional analytics is accepted; a highlighted cross means it is rejected; an outlined badge means no current choice is saved. Essential storage remains enabled in all three states.
Accept optional, Reject optional and Save preferences apply the displayed choice. You do not need to sign in. Production sibling tabs re-check the shared choice when focused and while visible. Choices do not transfer to a different browser, device or unrelated preview host. Clearing browser cookies removes the saved choice and optional analytics returns to off until accepted again.
Use your browser settings to inspect, remove or block cookies and local storage. Browser privacy tools may block analytics even after you accept it. If first-party cookie storage is blocked, the controls report that the choice could not be saved rather than claiming it persisted.
